/Taurus characteristics

Let’s take a look into the Characteristics of a Taurus!

Taureans are the practical, grounded, fixed earth sign of the zodiac. They are incredibly self-sufficient and determined, with strong survival instincts.

One of the most reliable stars of the zodiac, a Taurus is stable, responsible, hardworking, patient, and definitely good for their word. In return, they value actions over words from others. They like to have all the facts in a situation and make slow and deliberate decisions. The term ‘bullheaded’ fits a Taurus to a tee, having  trouble being flexible and being known for their stubborn ways. They also don’t like being pushed around and will happily give over their blunt opinions. This isn’t to cause drama but rather they want the best outcome and value honesty and high standards. They struggle to cope with sudden change, criticism, or stress but have enormous willpower and will forge through nearly any situation. Venus is the ruler of Taurus so you’ll find this sign manifesting, love, beauty, and creativity in their lives. Happy to indulge in their favourite past times, they hold their heads high, love to be seen as important and valuable, and are champions of self-love.

/Taurus best compatibility

Fellow Earth Sign (Virgo)
This is a couple who prioritise harmony, stability, and logic creating a drama-free pairing with a genuine cherishing of one another.

Pisces + Taurus (2 star signs apart)
Taurus sits two-star signs away from Pisces, a position said to create a karmic connection. Taurus is able to ground Pisces and Pisces can offer the kindness and loves that a Taurus craves. This pairing is able to form a strong and deep heart connection.

Cancer + Taurus
It just so happens that Cancer appreciates the open bluntness of a Taurus. They have an understanding of each other’s sensitivities and are both homebodies who crave security. Cancer offers the exact love that a Taurus craves.

/Taurus CONSTELLATION

Taurus is Latin for “the Bull” and is a large and prominent constellation in the northern hemisphere’s winter sky. Taurus hosts two of the nearest open clusters to Earth, the Pleiades, and the Hyades, both of which are visible to the naked eye.  Taurus is the only constellation crossed by all three of the galactic equator, celestial equator, and ecliptic.

It is one of the oldest constellations, dating back to at least the Early Bronze Age when it marked the location of the Sun during the spring equinox.  In the Old Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, the goddess Ishtar sends Taurus, the Bull of Heaven, to kill Gilgamesh for spurning her advances.  In early Mesopotamian art, the Bull of Heaven was closely associated with Inanna, the Sumerian goddess of sexual love, fertility, and warfare. One of the oldest depictions shows the bull standing before the goddess with 3 stars depicted on its back (the cuneiform sign for “star-constellation”).

To the Egyptians, the constellation Taurus was a sacred bull that was associated with the renewal of life in spring. When the spring equinox entered Taurus, the constellation would become covered by the Sun in the western sky as spring began. To the early Hebrews, Taurus was the first constellation in their zodiac and consequently, it was represented by the first letter in their alphabet, Aleph.

In Greek mythology, Taurus was identified with Zeus, who assumed the form of a magnificent white bull to abduct Europa, a legendary Phoenician princess. A second Greek myth portrays Taurus as Io, a mistress of Zeus. To hide his lover from his wife Hera, Zeus changed Io into the form of a heifer. Greek mythographer Acusilaus marks the bull Taurus as the same that formed the myth of the Cretan Bull, one of The Twelve Labors of Heracles.

Taurus became an important object of worship among the Druids. Their Tauric religious festival was held while the Sun passed through the constellation. In Buddhism, legends hold that Gautama Buddha was born when the full moon was in Vaisakha, or Taurus. Buddha’s birthday is celebrated with the Wesak Festival, or Vesākha, which occurs on the first or second full moon when the Sun is in Taurus.
