Six Planes Pine is a hand-built sculptural work composed of found wood, plywood, and ceramics. It translates a psychedelic vision (six rings radiating upward from a tree trunk) into a stylised sculptural form.

The work takes the shape of a pine tree, referencing a lineage that extends approximately 150 million years, beings that have persisted through vast ecological and geological shifts.

At its apex, a ceramic cone is imprinted with two southern moon moths, drawn from a lived encounter described by the artist: “Later that evening, a southern moon moth found its way into the kitchen, gently landing on both Ben and me as we guided it safely back into the night.” This moment informs the work’s broader interest in interconnectivity. The moths, like the pine, are positioned as possible guides or oracular presences, suggesting forms of knowledge that exist beyond the human.

Six Planes Pine continues the artist’s ongoing inquiry into the relationship between the physical and the spiritual. Trees are presented as active participants within an interconnected web of life – beings that adapt, persist, and exist in relation to others. The work invites consideration of these relationships while gently challenging human-centred perspectives.
