Six Planes Iridescent translates a vision of six luminous planes ascending upward via a tree trunk, into a stylised sculptural form. Hand-cut and sanded iridescent stained glass has been chosen for its transparency and shifting spectrum of colour, evoking what lies beyond the veil of ordinary perception.

The vision of the six planes is centred on the presence of ancestors inhabiting planes that exist alongside, yet remain largely unseen within, our everyday reality. The wing forms draw on the iconography of angels while also reflecting the artist’s own personal mythology, where trees themselves are understood as angelic beings and guardians.

The sculpture is built using a found log, reintroducing the tree as both material and collaborator. The wood becomes an active presence within the work, supporting the ethereal qualities of the glass to hint at the grandness of the universe.
