Art Prompts: Weekly Creative Challenge /2
Are you ready to join a fun art challenge?
Art prompts is here to kick start and unblock your creativity, with one prompt and one constraint to get you back creating and having fun. The creative prompt is there for a starting point with the idea to approach the challenge freely. It’s aimed at artists but is open to any creatives (musicians, writers, makers) the more the merrier. Prompt /2: House Plant
This week’s challenge is to draw your house plant or pick a plant from this board.
CONSTRAINT: BLIND CONTOUR
A blind contour drawing is when you look at the object you’re drawing but not your paper. Contour simply refers to the outline of the form you’re drawing. Blind contour drawing trains your brain to focus on an object’s essential shapes. You are able to lift your pen off the paper in this constraint (it’s not a continuous contour) but you’re not able to look at the paper. It should mean a very loose sketchy style which you can use as your finished piece or rework more. Remember the aim is simply to have fun and play 🙂
My EXAMPLE
I chose one of my favourite house plants, a pink anthurium, and used an ink brush pen on paper. I found the constraint created a quick easy challenge which helped formulate some organic lines that I normally wouldn’t create. Of course if the constraint (is too constraining!) there’s no need to use it!
